Brianna O’Leary grew up in Redding, enjoying afternoons at the river trail and summers at the lake. She received her Bachelor of Arts in English from UC Berkeley, where she became deeply invested in public service and community building. During her four years at college, she co-coordinated an annual summer camp, volunteered with the Gender Equity and Resource Center, and worked on disaster relief efforts in New Orleans, Louisiana.

After college, Brianna volunteered with BAYAC AmeriCorps, a National Service Program, and worked as an afterschool teacher in San Francisco’s Mission District. During her time as an educator, Brianna learned the importance of community engagement in educational achievement, and vice versa.

Most recently, Brianna worked in the Admissions & Financial Aid Department at Shasta College. She oversaw the New Applicant Project, an effort focused on meeting the needs of underrepresented students, and she worked closely with Shasta College counselors on the Shasta College Promise Program.

Brianna is proud of Shasta County’s growth and resilience, and she is excited to contribute to her community’s continued development as the coordinator of Reach Higher Shasta.
